Grade 7A scientific field trip

Post by Neyoula aljurdi on Fri Apr 24, 2009 8:03 pm

To relate studied science concepts to real life situations and introduce students to industrial work, the science department organized a visit to Al- Moutahed factory (Al- Moutahed produces all packaging and wrapping flexible materials, and it has all kinds of paper used in wrapping one layer and multi-layers ( multiplex ) for use in food stuff like polypropylene , cellophane , waxed paper , polyamid , polyester , aluminium , …etc and other types used all in wrapping sweets , biscuits , chocolates, potato chips …etc in addition to the ready made-bags used for coffee and nuts ( vacuum ), spices and frozen vegetables and the printed polyethylene bags of all kinds and sizes and the shrinkable and normal sleeves for plastics and glass bottles) . Welcomed by the owners of the company the group had great opportunity to learn processes of working with nylon and production of wraps ,which is the main specialization of the company.
From an idea, step by step, students watched how a simple piece of nylon becomes a piece of art for a well-known brand. During the whole visiting students were able to ask questions and to understand main stages of working with which is very important in their future life.
By the way thanks for grade 7 A students who proved that they deserve this trip for the way they communicated with the supervisors and the guiders who were astonished by the stuents' information, questions, behavior ,scientific curiosity.....
